Reflections: We Meet People For A Reason!

“Wherever you go and whomever you meet, you will find your own love waiting for you.”

~ Louise L. Hay

Time also feels as though it’s getting faster and faster – I’m only just getting to grips that it’s 2012 lol! And in Feb too 🙂 I’m super slow lol!

The same goes for London living… Actually, come to think about it – everything is fast, every where now lol! Add with social networking, emails and other technology connections, we are now becoming a 24 hour walking connection to the world and people around us!

I have found that London has been a good spot for connections… it definitely feels faster and quicker flowing, compared to other cities I’ve lived in – everyone seems to move in/out of this city (sometimes in/out of my life due to the fast flow and keeping in touch), getting up to new life adventures (jobs, travel, activities, friendships/relationships, etc) – but it’s all still amazing! I feel that this is the city I truly “found” my Self… and a lot of it is to do with the people I met – even when the experiences were not always happy ones!

So, it’s natural that we will be meeting people all the time – for so many reasons! Whether it’s during a work or personal related setting, we create connections. We also attract different connections to people.

Reflection questions for you today:  How do you enjoy your connections to people? What makes a good friend to you? What is the difference to you between an acquaintance and a friend? Where do you draw lines between your groups of connections?

This poem has helped me reflect on this topic…

Reason, Season Or Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you figure out which one it is,
you will know what to do for each person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty;
to provide you with guidance and support;
to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.
They may seem like a godsend, and they are.
They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong-doing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it. It is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person,
and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

I have read this poem several times over the years. it seems to make more sense as the years go on and I realise that there are so many spiritual lessons we can gain from our connections with the people we meet – even if they were not always positive connections!

This particular topic came to mind when I was writing my recent cord cutting meditation post (read it here) – where we learn to slowly disconnect our energy cords or soul ties from people. And I had other reflections about how we connect to people on an energy and spiritual level. Let me share it with you 🙂

We often meet people who mirror who/where we are right now…

We might not even be aware of it… So, each person is a mirror to even just a slightly small aspect of who you are and there is a lesson to be shown when you interact with it. By seeing what it is about them that you like or dislike, maybe you can explore that aspect of your Self that you picked up on them… draw the focus of energy from what it is that you felt from them and reflect on how you are in that area of your Self. Even if the person you are facing is someone who you completely find the most annoying/hateful/draining/negative being on Earth, reflect on why it is you picked up on it and what you could learn from it.

Oddly enough, I have felt that in the past, the people I have encountered in that position with me in my life where the ones who taught me more about where/who I was and how to move forward from it.

Then there are times, when the mirror is SO clear, colourful and magical – You get to really see (and openly share) your Self in the most profound and deep way with the other being. There have been some magical moments too, where by chance, people have come into my life and shown me that some aspects I hadn’t revealed/known in my Self are now ready/open to exploring! I can’t really even decide whether that goes in the reason/season/lifetime section – as they had a true impact in all lol!

The Universe has a strange sense of humour lol 🙂

More reflections: Take particular notice of new people who enter your life – what are you attracting into your world right now? Is there a pattern of a common aspect to the new people in your life?

Note: This post is still very much a work in progress as I am still learning a lot too on this topic and it constantly amazes me… so I might update it at a later date – watch this space 🙂
